Ivar Helgason

Ìvar the Icelander began his singing career in a girls’ choir at age 8. After that exciting experience, he couldn’t stop singing, and by the time he was 11 he had sung the lead role in “The Little Sweep” by Benjamin Britten at the Icelandic Opera. He has been on stage ever since.

He graduated from the Reykjavik School of Music, and went on to Vienna to study singing, acting and dancing in the Musical department at the University of Music in Vienna where he graduated with honors in 2003. He has performed in several different musicals and operettas such as: Seymor in “The little Shop of Horrors”, Woof in “Hair”, King Herodes/Simon in “Jesus Christ Superstar”, Kaiser Franz Joseph in “Elisabeth” and Enjolras/Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables”.

In his free-time he composes music, writes, and records in his home-made studio. He also enjoys drawing and collecting and playing unusual instruments.
